Charlotte Street is pleased to present FLUID FRACTURE, a multimedia experience.   For their second gallery event Black House Collective invited 5 composers to write 15 minutes of music expressing their unique compositional points of view. This performance will showcase the work of Kansas City’s up and coming composers: John Chittum, Cody Kauhl, Peter LawlessHunter Long, and Russell Thorpe.

Date: Friday, August 3
Time: 7:30pm-9pm
Venue: La Esquina / 1000 W. 25th St. KCMO 64108

In collaboration with the performance, visual artist Jeff Tackett offers immersive visuals inspired by ice stalactites which form in the sea – beautiful, but ultimately deadly as they encase any budding signs of life.  This ice structure concept moved the participating composers to consider themes of translucence, liquid depth, and cold as they composed their pieces amidst the summer heat. In this sense, the music is about aspiration and contradiction.
