At 7:30 pm on Friday, October 30th at la Esquina (1000 W. 25th St., KCMO) Charlotte Street will host the performance of The Beautiful NoisesThe Beautiful Noises, influenced by Italian Futurist composer and painter Luigi Russolo’s early 20th Century manifesto, L’arte dei Rumori, is a project exploring the use of noise as a sound object in contemporary classical composition. While the definition of noise describes any unwanted sound, composers have been using unconventional performance practices within the last century to achieve new means of sound production. Kansas City-based composers Nick Omiccioli, Chin-ting Chan, and Michael Miller will share their working methods based on the aesthetics of noise as it pertains to their creative work for an amplified string trio. The musicians include Stanley Cheng-Hao, Hillary Sametz, and Eman Chalshotori. Additional works for solo instruments will be composed by Lee Hartman, Eli Hougland, and Morgan Greenwood.
