Charlotte Street Foundation is pleased to present Across the Table, Across the Land—an exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). The exhibition opens Thursday, March 17th at La Esquina (1000 W 25th Street Kansas City, MO) with a reception from 5-9:30 PM, and will be on display until April 23rd, 2016.
Across the Table, Across the Land—a project curated by Michael Strand and Namita Wiggers—is designed to reveal the breadth and depth of connections between ceramics and the community—focused around food and meals. It aims to showcase how ceramics, and the ceramics community, bring people together every day.
The exhibition is drawn from a Webapp (www.ncecaacrossthetable.com), developed as a public archive of photos and narratives detailing how ceramics link communities. Drawing upon this “archive without walls,” this vibrant “collection” served as the core for the selection of projects and work on view. Included in the exhibition are objects, images, and videos by NCECA members and K-12 Challenge participants in the Unites States and abroad.
Visit ncecaacrossthtable.com for more information about the project and exhibition, and follow ‘acrossthetable2015’ on Instagram to view all submissions. Check www.charlottestreet.org for associated exhibition programs taking place during NCECA. This exhibition has been made possible by the generous support of the Windgate Charitable Foundation.
