KANSAS CITY, MO, April 11, 2024: Charlotte Street’s Residency Program opens its doors on Saturday, April 26, 2025, for its much-anticipated annual Open Studios event. This free, one-day-only community program takes place from 3:00–10:00 PM at Charlotte Street’s headquarters at 3333 Wyoming Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Open Studios highlights recent work of the 31 visual artists, writers, and performers currently in Charlotte Street’s Studio Residency Program, along with the 3 emerging art entities in the StartUp Residency Program.
Open Studios is an open invitation to the community to step into the creative process—explore studios, meet the artists, watch performances, listen to writers read new work, and see how artists are experimenting, collaborating, and evolving their practice.
For local TV: A sneak peek for filming and pre-event interviews will be available during dancers’ tech rehearsals THURSDAY 6:00-9:00 PM and FRIDAY 4:00-7:00 PM.
For interview requests with Residency + Programs Manager Pat Alexander or participating artists, contact Amanda Middaugh at [email protected] or 816-994-7734.

ABOUT THE STUDIO RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Charlotte Street’s Studio Residency program supports visual artists, writers, and performing artists by providing free studio space, rehearsal space, professional development, and opportunities for exhibition, performance, mentorship and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The residency cultivates an environment of experimentation, dialogue, and community-building for approximately 30 artists each year. Charlotte Street’s annual Open Studios event makes Resident art more accessible to a broad public audience and encourages exchange and collaboration among the Studio Residents. Artists receive Residency for two-year terms, on a rotating basis, with a new cohort of approximately 15 joining each June.
ABOUT THE STARTUP RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The two-year Startup Residency makes it possible for emerging area arts organizations to test their visions and create a proof-of-concept, bolstered by the support of free storefront space, mentorship from established art administrators and creative entrepreneurs, community engagement, and marketing support. Charlotte Street selects artist-run startups that are unique, push boundaries, and fill a gap in the Kansas City arts ecology, with particular focus on organizations that address an unmet need or provide resources or a platform for underrepresented art communities or disciplines.
