Statement of Work

My artistic practice is informed through academic feminist methodologies that materialize a visual product dealing with historical/personal narrative through an embodied performance of common western linguistic tropes.

My performance for video work seeks to unpack greater oppressive social/cultural norms and practices through satirical performances that also locate my own experience and assumed capacities within and outside of those oppressive structures and norms. Using persona as a vehicle for critical inquiry and personal expression, my videos outline figures that may be easily recognizable through vocal intonation, yet begin a process of queer rupture that erodes the initial veneer presented to the viewer. The result is a coalescing of research-based inquiry and effectually-driven performance.
