Statement of Work
Surrounded by tactile practices such as embroidery, quilting, and weaving, I am constantly thinking about structure - both the physical makeup of a piece and the structure of my own life’s narrative.
I create these works around specific stories. My narratives are inspired by memories and daily interactions. Currently, I am working with marker and wire to explore personal narratives that blend my memories of spaces I grew up in with family pictures of those spaces. The separation between flatness and dimensionality works together perfectly from only one vantage point. This relates to the incredible subjectivity of “real” memories and shared family stories.
