Charlotte Street’s Artist Resource Fair is coming back for a second year, Saturday, September 23, from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM!
The Artist Resource Fair offers visitors the opportunity to connect with local and regional resources, workshops, and artist services in the metro-area. Representing over 30 tabling organizations, visitors can look forward to a full day of free programs including Art Professionals Speed Dating, Grant Writing Tips, Regional Residency Opportunities, and more.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
10:00 AM | Grant Writing Tips + Grant Opportunities for Individual Artists
Presented by Charlotte Street Development + Marketing Director, Amanda Middaugh
Charlotte Street’s Development + Marketing Director, Amanda Middaugh, will share her tips and tricks for writing compelling grants and general fundraising strategies for individual artists and creatives. At the end of the session, attendees will be invited to crowdsource grant opportunities available for artists in the Kansas City metro-area.
11:15 AM | Regional Residencies + Workshop Opportunities
What are the benefits of a residency program? Learn more about what is available and how to apply! Representatives from five regional artist residencies will share short presentations about each program, followed by a panel discussion at the end. See the list of speakers below:

1:45 PM | Communication: How and When to Ask for Help
Presented by First Call, facilitated by Bethany DePugh
In this interactive presentation, participants will learn how to ask for help, better understand mental health and substance use disorders, and discuss why help can be so difficult to seek. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of how to advocate for their loved ones and their own mental health/problematic substance use. First Call representative Bethany DePugh will provide resources for local support services such as mental health, substance use recovery, and harm reduction, including providing all participants Narcan.
3:00 PM | PR Fundamentals for Creatives: How to Get Coverage
Presented by Xiao Faria Cunha
Learn the PR fundamentals on how to communicate with news outlets and reporters to win your first media coverage without spending thousands on a publicist or wasting hours hunting aimlessly for the answers. This workshop will teach you all the basics of PR for artists, including how to find coverage, who to pitch to, and how to craft successful outreach.
4:15 PM | Conflict Resolution Tips!
Presented by the Center for Conflict Resolution
Relationships can be challenging. The Center for Conflict Resolution can help you navigate those challenges. Come and learn how to empower everyone involved to find win-win solutions.
5:00-6:00 PM | Outdoor Performance by The Phantastics
Formed in Kansas City, Missouri in 2010, The Phantastics is a 7-piece band that blends elements of funk, soul, hip-hop, and rock to create a unique sound that has captured audiences across the Midwest. The band has been called Kansas City’s best dance band by the Kansas City Star and has shared the stage with legendary acts like George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Their dedication to their community and social justice causes has earned them a reputation as not just a band, but a community of musicians.
