Curating the Here and Now: Talk with Stephanie Weissberg

As a part of Curating the Here and Now, selected curators will visit Kansas City to speak about their recent exhibitions and curatorial practice.

Join us on Saturday, April 2 from 4-5pm at the CSF Library to hear from Stephanie Weissberg, Associate Curator at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis, MO. Most recently, Weissberg curated Assembly Required, on view from March 4-July 31, 2022 at the Pulitzer. Assembly Required features nine artists and collectives whose work invites active participation. For this public talk, Weissberg will speak about the curatorial concept and artists in this exhibition.

CURATOR BIO

Stephanie Weissberg is Associate Curator at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis, Missouri, a position she has held since 2016. In her tenure at the Pulitzer she has curated a range of exhibitions including Rough Cut: Independent Japanese Animation (2017); Lola Alvarez Bravo: Picturing Mexico (2018); Striking Power: Iconoclasm in Ancient Egypt (2019); Susan Philipsz: Seven Tears (2019); Terry Adkins: Resounding (2020); and Assembly Required (2022). She is currently working on a retrospective of American-born sculptor Barbara Chase-Riboud. Prior to her tenure at the Pulitzer she held curatorial positions at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Creative Time, and Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy among others. Weissberg’s research interests include Fluxus, contemporary performance art, and feminist theory. She holds an MA from New York University and a BA from University of California, Berkeley.
