Disrupting & Discovering Personal Narratives Writing Workshop

Join us for an evening of reflective and exploratory writing as we ramble our ways into telling new stories about ourselves and our place in this world.

In this four-part series, we will work our way through prompts designed to identify and disrupt the cultural, familial, and personal narratives that we’ve absorbed or inherited – that have been written over us or into us – that we’ve tried to fit into or wrestled with. Our final gathering will be a time for writers to share and listen to the stories we’ve disrupted and discovered throughout the series. You do not need to have any experience writing narrative to join us!

Each workshop will be guided by Kansas City writer Rebekah Taussig. Growing up visibly disabled, Rebekah’s writing reaches for stories that hold the both/and, enhancing and complicating flat, cultural narratives around big words like disability, motherhood, and gender. She’s spent most of her life immersed in the world of writing and reading – as a student, teacher, and author – because she believes the words we use and the stories we tell matter.
