Join the Charlotte Street Foundation Fellows Thursday, April 21, 2022, 6-7:30 p.m. online and at the Hudson Auditorium. A closing reception will follow the lecture.

Charlotte Street Foundation annually honors three outstanding Kansas City-based visual artists with unrestricted cash awards. These Charlotte Street Awards recognize locally based artists who are creating outstanding artwork and provide financial support, critical attention and increased exposure for Award Fellows with the aim of fostering their continued artistic and professional development. Through the Awards program, Charlotte Street Foundation seeks to contribute to the vitality of Kansas City’s arts community, making Kansas City alive with collaboration, passion, ideas and surprise.

The 2020 recipients—glyneisha, Cory Imig and Kathy Liao—were selected by a panel of local and national curators.

Hope-Lian Vinson

Hope-Lian Vinson is a Kansas City-based visual artist whose works recast elements of the built environment to explore internal narratives of history and identity. With a B.F.A in Painting, Art History, and a Social Practice Certificate from the Kansas City Art Institute, Hope-Lian works at the intersections of art and ecology by using locally-sourced clay and natural materials to reference place and geological processes. They have showcased works in MdW Atlas, SITE ONE, Sapien Gallery, and have recently returned from the Chop Wood Carry Water arts residency in the Driftless region of NW Illinois. They currently serve as the Marketing + Communications Manager at Charlotte Street, where they use their artistic background in community-organizing to provide critical support for Charlotte Street programs and initiatives.
