Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 6:30-7:30 PM

Join Making Moves on Thursday, September 8th for an evening-length performance by Alexis Borth. This dance production explores the growing tension in society between technological advancement and a primal need to reconnect with the organic. Borth asks the audience, “have we shaped technology to enhance our human lives, or have machines made us obedient servants to a synthetic system?” The performance takes place in Charlotte Street Foundation’s Stern Theater at 6:30pm.

ABOUT ALEXIS BORTH

Alexis Borth is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from the Conservatory of Music & Dance at UMKC, which propelled her into performances with Kansas City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Quixotic. Upon graduation she moved to New York City, freelancing for several years with notable artists, companies, and projects. Some of her highlighted credits include performing with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, American Ballet Theatre at The Metropolitan Opera House and walking the runway and dancing for New York Fashion Week. Her career eventually led her to San Francisco to perform with Dance Theatre of San Francisco, and other companies around the Bay area. Her choreography has premiered at the San Francisco Art Institute, Yerba Buena Arts Center for Berkeley Ballet Theater, and various independent projects and music videos. She is a certified GYROTONIC, GYROKINESIS, and yoga instructor and is currently performing, choreographing, and teaching in Kansas City and around the country.  She has been on faculty for LINES Ballet’s BFA & Training Programs, taught dance classes for LINES Dance Center in San Francisco as well as UMKC’s Conservatory of Music & Dance and many other studios nationwide. As she has recently relocated back to the Midwest, Alexis is excited and grateful to use her experience to reconnect, create new productions locally and nationally, and help further a growing KC arts community.
