Making Moves presents “Is”, a collaboration between Persi and three other dancers whose works presents a collision of artistic and creative approaches centered around the theme of self-sabotage. This live performance “explores how behaviors such as isolation, procrastination, over-indulgence and self deprecation affect a person’s relationship with themself and with their community.” The performance will take place at 7:30 PM at Charlotte Street Foundation’s Black Box Theater (South entrance at 3333 Wyoming Street).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Persi is originally from Michigan and began dancing at the age of two. She trained in various styles including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and musical theater. In high school she attended the Brockus Conservatory in California where she began learning modern and contemporary dance. Persi then attended Indiana University where she received a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance. At IU she further expanded her dance vocabulary with styles such as breaking, aerial silks and contact improvisation. During undergrad she also spent a year abroad in Israel studying Gaga technique at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Now in Kansas, Persi is a freelance performance artist creating her own independent works and sharing her love of dance through teaching.
