On August 12th at 7:30pm, Making Moves is collaborating with Art in the Loop to present Brillo Performance’s new work, Collapse. The work, developed of several site-specific iterations, explores the current collective transition from the solitary to the communal using downtown Kansas City as its backdrop. The dancers will be masked and the performance will last approximately 20 minutes.

From the artists:

Brillo’s new piece, Collapse, emerged from site specific performances along KC’s Cliff Drive, Miami’s Biscayne Bay, and Independence’s Historic Square in 2020-2021. These pieces center on the dissonance and resonance of urban and natural landscapes, and how we transit through these intersections. Developed and adapted for Art in the Loop, the audience will witness and connect with how the downtown KC habitat brings a sense of community and shared space. Moving from “emptiness” during the dormant season of the pandemic, to resiliency in this unsure phase of reconnection and emergence, Collapse explores the hidden cracks in ourselves and our world and the unexpected silver linings that emerged during such a challenging time. Collapse is choreographed by Katie Brennan and Oscar Trujillo and will be performed by Katie Brennan and NYC-based/KC native Stephen Plante.

Brillo Performance resides at the juncture of movement based healing and immersive contemporary dance where transformational process and art making intersect. Brillo is led by Katie Brennan and Oscar Trujillo.
