Perpetual Motion, a family-oriented arts event for the community in the Marlborough Neighborhood, is set for Saturday, June 22, 2019! A rain-delay date of June 29, 2019 is established in case of severe or unfair weather.

The free outdoor event is located at the Parks with Purpose green site at the corner of 81st Street and Troost Avenue. The event is open to the public of all ages, and programming will run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM that Saturday.

SCHEDULE OF PERFORMANCES
Micro-mobile workshops, perpetual motion machines and food trucks will be at the park site all day between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

  • 1:00 – 1:15 PM: Opening remarks
  • 1:30 – 2:00 PM: Perpetual Motion Theatrical performance from Drama Time
  • 2:00 – 3:00 PM: Battery Tour performance from A.Y. Young
  • 3:00 – 3:30 PM: Perpetual Motion Theatrical performance from Drama Time (Reprise)

    Perpetual Motion is a family-oriented outdoor event that provides fun for all ages through the use of immersive activities created by local artists. Local artists involved with programming are Cynthia Hardeman, m.o.i. aka The Minister of Information, A.Y. Young, S.E. Nash, and Byrd Productions Physical Theater. Activities for the day have been developed by artists working to bring art, environment and community together.

    Activities at the Perpetual Motion event include:
    – Interactive hip-hop performances for kids
    – Visual art activities
    – Theatrical performances and experiences
    – Learning and creativity opportunities for children of all ages!
    – Opportunities to learn how movement, invention, and experimentation are integral to the park’s purpose through fun activities for you and your children!

    Programming for Perpetual Motion is made possible through a partnership with Charlotte Street Foundation’s Neighborhood Artists Residency and the Marlborough Community Coalition.
