“Enter the Scribbleverse” began as a film by Kyle Dykes, spotlighting the imaginative world of artist Donald Ross, also known as “Scribe.” After its premiere at the Kansas City International Film Festival, the team sought guidance from Charlotte Street on where to take it next. Their journey led to ProdoLab, where the project evolved beyond the screen. Embracing the film’s central theme—the power of imagination and where it can take you—the project transformed into a multidimensional experience. Now titled Enter the Scribbleverse, it blends film, original animation by Scribe, and the music of Kyle and Spacesuit Productions. With live drawing, lyrics, and sound all orbiting around a shared creative vision, the show invites audiences into the mind of a dreamer—charting the path of inspiration and the pursuit of something greater.

Donald Ross, known as “Scribe,” has been a fixture in the Kansas City art scene for over 32 years. Renowned for his larger-than-life murals and his 18-year tenure creating artwork for Children’s Mercy Hospital, Scribe uses visual storytelling to foster genuine connection. His work transforms urban spaces into vibrant landscapes of wonder, aiming to spark joy and inspire discovery in every corner of the city.

Kyle Dykes is a Kansas City-based audio engineer and videographer whose deep roots in the local music scene have connected him with some of the city’s most influential voices in hip hop and beyond. His evolving sound has crossed genres and earned placements on major network television. This natural progression into video and film led to the launch of Spacesuit Productions, a creative studio where Kyle merges sight and sound into a unified artistic vision—making him a rare talent capable of crafting both the story and its perfect sonic landscape.

Enter the Scribbleverse also includes musicians and lyricists Chromadata, Ubi, and Aaron Alexander.

ProdoLAB is a bimonthly experimental platform in partnership with musician/composer Eddie Moore that pairs Kansas City time-based artists, producers, and musicians to collaborate on a new piece for a one-night-only showcase at Charlotte Street. Each performance is followed by a Q&A session with the artists.
