Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM
On November 4, Project: Cup brings together regional poets and potters for an exchange, poetry reading, and roundtable conversation between four potters (Bede Clarke, Jana Evans, Margaret Kinkeade, Joe Pintz) and four poets (Jose Faus, Canese Jarboe, Huascar Medina, Jordan Stempleman).
The idea is simple and straightforward, but the outcome is anything but! Project: Cup is handing pottery to poets and poetry to potters with the belief that an exchange between these artists and artforms has the potential to produce lively, meaningful, humorous, and potentially profound conversation. The exchange is happening in two acts:
Participating poets each received a cup by a participating potter in early October. Poets were asked to live with the cup and write over the course of the next month in preparation for the second act of this exchange: a poetry reading and roundtable discussion.
The resulting poems and cups by the participating potters will become part of the permanent Project: Cup Library in the William T. Kemper Library at Charlotte Street.
Please join us on Saturday, November 4 from 4:00-6:00 PM for the Potters & Poets Exchange- an evening of poetry and pottery.
