Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 6:30-7:30 PM

For this public program, we will discuss the complexities and debate surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs’ team name. Not In Our Honor, founded in 2005 by a group of Native American College students at the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University, advocates against the use of Native American imagery in sports. We will hear from Gaylene Crouser, a leading member of Not In Our Honor, and Executive Director of the KC Indian Center. We will also speak with Jason Lips, a Kansas City-based artist and arts educator. Lips has initiated a project on re-imagining the Chiefs team logo through an educational lens, and will share about these ideas.

This program was produced as a part of clock:work, a multimedia exhibition which treats sports as a source of inspiration while questioning the institutional bodies that oversee them.
