The Rocket Relief fund provides emergency grants of $1,000 to individual artists in all disciplines across the urban and rural Kansas/Missouri bi-state region, within an 80-mile radius of the Kansas City metro. This grant is intended to help artists whose incomes have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and who need assistance with basic expenses such as food, rent, medical costs, and child care. In response to the severe impact on the local artist community, Charlotte Street Foundation and Spencer Museum of Art, with underwriting from the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, are partnering to provide $110,000 in emergency aid.
Artists are strongly encouraged to apply by 9:00 am, February 15, when the first lottery drawing takes place to be eligible for all drawings. The first 10 recipients will be notified on February 19, and every subsequent week 10 artists will be drawn from the lottery and notified until all funds are distributed. Past applicants who have not received a Rocket Relief grant must reapply to be considered for the third cycle drawings. If you have questions about resubmitting an application, you are welcome to attend this information session.
