Textural Drawing Workshop with Corey Antis

How do we locate our places in a landscape under pressure, in flux, and through constant reinvention? As a part of the exhibition Reflecting the City, artist Corey Antis invites participants to explore the urbanscape through the senses in the workshop Textural Drawing Techniques. Participants will use textural drawing techniques and other drawing methods to physically reflect the ways that we approach, see, and touch our built and natural environments.

All materials are provided.

At the end of the workshop, selected works will be displayed in the exhibition, Reflecting the City, on view from March 29 through May 4, 2024. Charlotte Street will return the artwork to each workshop participant after the exhibition.

Spots are limited. Registration required. Ages 13 and up are welcome.

Hope-Lian Vinson

Hope-Lian Vinson is a Kansas City-based visual artist whose works recast elements of the built environment to explore internal narratives of history and identity. With a B.F.A in Painting, Art History, and a Social Practice Certificate from the Kansas City Art Institute, Hope-Lian works at the intersections of art and ecology by using locally-sourced clay and natural materials to reference place and geological processes. They have showcased works in MdW Atlas, SITE ONE, Sapien Gallery, and have recently returned from the Chop Wood Carry Water arts residency in the Driftless region of NW Illinois. They currently serve as the Marketing + Communications Manager at Charlotte Street, where they use their artistic background in community-organizing to provide critical support for Charlotte Street programs and initiatives.
