A live music performance featuring compositions from college students throughout the Midwest on Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 PM at Capsule. The Exchange for Midwestern Collegiate Composers (EMCC) features selected works of new music by student composers enrolled in a college or university in the broad Midwestern U.S. region. Their compositions will be performed at one of three concerts in downtown Kansas City over the second weekend of March.

The final concert will feature our ensemble in residence, Project c4. Project c4 is a cutting edge new music ensemble based in Kansas City that promotes fresh ideas through free improvisation and new commissioned music with an original and flexible instrumentation which includes flute, saxophone, percussion, piano, electric guitar, and laptop.

EMCC is curated by the UMKC Conservatory Composers’ Guild, an organization of UMKC students with the objective of promoting the composition and performance of new music by student composers and acquiring funding for performance opportunities for its members and visiting professional composers and ensembles at UMKC.
