The Charlotte Street Foundation is proud to present This Thing of Ours, a two-night showcase celebrating different styles and techniques of Hip-Hop street dance. The weekend showcase commences in Kansas City’s Westside neighborhood on Friday, June 23rd at 6pm with a parking lot cypher, DJ, and street art exhibition from area graffiti artists; SIKE, Visual Goodies, YEARS, and CHUY. The festivities continue with a free dance performance at 7pm inside Charlotte Street Foundation’s lEsquina gallery. Eight street dancers, including LeoNightus, Silent Empire, and Phiture, will share their stories and offer a glimpse into Kansas City’s rich history in the Hip-Hop dance community. Each street performer will bring a unique style to the stage, experimenting with a broader source of music vs. traditional Hip-Hop beats.

The street dance celebration continues at la Esquina on Saturday, June 24th 6-10pm $15. CSF is partnering with the Rhythm Kings Dance Crew to host their 13th Annual Jam. The Jam is an amalgamation of regional Hip-Hop dancers competing in a 2 on 2 “battle” format, with a $500 cash prize. The Rhythm King’s Jam is an opportunity for both audience and dancers to experience the true essence of what Hip-Hop dance is all about, competition! All break dance crews and styles are welcome to battle. Expect to see some of the best B-Boy/B-Girls, Poppers, Lockers, Krumpers from across the region.
