Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6:30-7:30 PM

Join us for a conversation with featured artists Tay Butler, Abigail Smithson, and Maryam Amirvaghefi from the clock:work exhibition, on view until April 29. We will discuss thematic crossovers in the exhibition, in conversation with Professor Noah Cohan, the Assistant Director of American Culture Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, and artist John Early, Senior Lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis.  Noah Cohan’s research and teaching are oriented to the intersection of American fan cultures, sports, and narratives, particularly as they pertain to race and gender. John Early is a multidisciplinary artist and most recently, he has been part of an interdisciplinary team addressing questions of spatial equity related to the absence of basketball courts in Forest Park.

This program was produced as a part of clock:work, a multimedia exhibition which treats sports as a source of inspiration while questioning the institutional bodies that oversee them.
