In this rendition of La Onda, artists embrace the visual language and ritualistic methods through various mediums, including ceramics, photography, and painting. The title stems from the folkloric rhyme “Sana Sana Colita de Rana, Si No Sana Hoy Se Sana Manana,” a healing song created for children with the intent of alleviating pain and creating a magical sense of care by their loved ones. This exhibition showcases local Latinx artists who reflect on folkloric traditions and cultural representations within their communities. These works of embody themes of memory, care, and superstitions within Latinx culture that are still reflected and practiced within today’s society. All artists featured in this exhibition are new to La Onda, curated by Silvia Beatriz Abisaab, Silvia Arellano Fernandez and Cesar Lopez.
