In collaboration with the performance, visual artist Jeff Tackett offers immersive visuals inspired by ice stalactites which form in the sea – beautiful, but ultimately deadly as they encase any budding signs of life.  This ice structure concept moved the participating composers to consider themes of translucence, liquid depth, and cold as they composed their pieces amidst the summer heat. In this sense, the music is about aspiration and contradiction.
