As part of the organization’s 15th anniversary celebration in 2012, Charlotte Street Foundation is honored to recognize Jim Leedy and Margaret Silva, whose passionate support and behind-the-scenes efforts have been critical to the growth of the Kansas City artists’ community.

2012 Artist Hero – Jim Leedy
Before the current Kansas City arts renaissance; before First Fridays, Third Fridays, and Second Saturdays; and way before “The Crossroads” was a “district,” there was Jim Leedy. This award recognizes Jim as an inspiring, influential, and truly one-of-a-kind artist, teacher, and community builder. Jim’s vision, passion, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to art and to making Kansas City a home for artists have made him a tremendous force in the community’s growth and a true artists’ hero.

2012 Artist Patron – Margaret Silva
As the Co-Founder and Director of Grand Arts, Margaret Silva has provided generous and critical support to artists with big ideas. Through the many forms of support provided through Grand Arts, Margaret has been a catalyst for artistic experimentation in Kansas City. Because of her support, artists pursue big ideas, take risks, and create the extraordinary.
