Charlotte Street Foundation invites proposals from artists living and working within an 80-mile radius of downtown Kansas City for contemporary arts programming to be presented January 2015 through July 2015 at Charlotte Street’s la Esquina venue. All applications must be submitted via www.callforentry.org by July 18, 2014. (Call title: Charlotte Street Call for Proposals – la Esquina Gallery 2015).

Proposals may be for contemporary arts projects including, but not limited to, visual art exhibitions, site-specific installations, original live performances (dance, theater, music, performance art, spoken word, etc.), video screenings, literary readings/events, public programs, and hybrid forms.

Submitted proposals should be for programming that:

  • Is appropriate for and takes exciting advantage of Charlotte Street’s la Esquina venue, a non-commercial, 2500 square-foot space on Kansas City’s Westside committed to presenting leading-edge contemporary work of all disciplines, including work that is unconventional, experimental, site-specific, and multi-disciplinary.
  • Advances Charlotte Street Foundation’s mission of nurturing, challenging and supporting artists of exceptional vision;
  • Contributes diversity to Kansas City’s arts ecology, including  in terms of artists involved, ideas explored, approaches employed, and communities and audiences engaged.

Exhibitions typically run 6-7 weeks. Performances range from one-night events to month-long runs and beyond. Public programs may include one-time programs as well as program series. It will ultimately be at the discretion of Charlotte Street Foundation to determine the schedule and duration of selected projects.
