Charlotte Street Foundation is excited to partner with Kansas City Society for Contemporary Photography to host Free Film USA between Wednesday, August 21st through Sunday, August 25th, 2019. Kansas City will be the fourth top in a nationwide project to capture the spirit of America with the theme of “red, white and blue.” This event is a partnership between All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, Worthless Studios, FREE FILM : USA, Charlotte Street Foundation and American Society of Media Photographers – Kansas City Mid America.
The FREE FILM : USA team will travel to 15 to 20 different cities across the United States in a converted mobile dark- room Airstream trailer. The team will distribute and process rolls of 35mm black and white film. Both film and processing are free to anyone with access to a 35mm film camera.
During their Kansas City leg of the tour, from August 21-22 the FREE FILM: USA team will distribute and collect film in the parking lot of All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church at 4501 Walnut St. KCMO 64114.
Then on August 22nd FREE FILM : USA will move to Charlotte Street’s Blackbox on Troost, located at 4001 Troost Avenue, KCMO 64110. The Troost location will feature additional programming. All participating photographers will be given film and a deadline for returning unprocessed film. All photographers are requested to use their free roll of film to express what red white and blue means to them.
The reception to kick off the event is at Troost Avenue 4001 on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM!
