Join us for the opening reception of Geometrica Pop y Rucas, Friday, May 2 from 6:00–9:00 PM in the gallery!

Charlotte Street proudly presents Geometrica Pop y Rucas, an exhibition curated by Yashi Davalos, Charlotte Street Curatorial Fellow. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 6:00–9:00 PM in the Charlotte Street Gallery (3333 Wyoming St.). Geometrica Pop y Rucas explores social parallels of Midwestern and generational Latine identity through design, movement, and spatial imagination. This group exhibition repositions architecture, body, and culture through nonlinear migrations of form and feeling. Programming for the exhibition includes the In Absentia Concert, a collaboration with UMKC Music Conservatory’s Sight x Sounds Series, on Saturday May 10 at 7:00 PM in the gallery.

Artists featured in the exhibition include Gabriella Poulos (Kansas City, MO), Evie Lozano (Atlanta, GA), Brayan Enriquez (Atlanta, GA), Jaasiel DT (Jansas City, MO), Blas Isasi (St. Louis, MO) Ariadna Ginez (Chicago, IL), and Caleb Taylor (Kansas City, MO).

The exhibition moves through three interwoven frameworks: Infrastructure in pantomime, a nod to grid-based city planning and urban choreography; a destigmatized body, where form and identity freely occupy hybridized space; and a futurism with land and body hybrids, offering new visions for Latine presence in contemporary design. From ceramic sculpture to architectural intervention, each artist reimagines space as a site of resistance and renewal.
