EMS Presents is a monthly improvised/experimental music series curated by Seth Andrew Davis & Evan Verploegh, an extension of the ensemble Extemporaneous Music Society. This month’s performance features Ben Baker, Kevin Cheli, Seth Andrew Davis, Aaron Osborne, Jeff Kaiser, Evan Verploegh. EMS aims to highlight local improvised/experimental music practitioners as well as national/international artists to bring them to Kansas City and shine a light on the local community and build a local and international improvised music community.

Masks required indoors.

ABOUT EMS

EMS (Extemporaneous Music Society) is a newly founded free improvisation/contemporary music collective & ensemble based in Kansas City. The mission of the group is to help grow and facilitate an improvised/experimental music scene in Kansas City through performances, collaborations, workshops, and a concert series. EMS was founded by Seth Andrew Davis & Evan Verploegh along with Ben Baker & Krista Kopper.

Hope-Lian Vinson

Hope-Lian Vinson is a Kansas City-based visual artist whose works recast elements of the built environment to explore internal narratives of history and identity. With a B.F.A in Painting, Art History, and a Social Practice Certificate from the Kansas City Art Institute, Hope-Lian works at the intersections of art and ecology by using locally-sourced clay and natural materials to reference place and geological processes. They have showcased works in MdW Atlas, SITE ONE, Sapien Gallery, and have recently returned from the Chop Wood Carry Water arts residency in the Driftless region of NW Illinois. They currently serve as the Marketing + Communications Manager at Charlotte Street, where they use their artistic background in community-organizing to provide critical support for Charlotte Street programs and initiatives.
